Owen Viar

Funeral services for Owen O. Viar were Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Harun officiating. Burial was in Xander Cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert, Charles, Ronald Viar, Lester, Laurence, William Robbins.

Arrangements by Haugh and Son Funeral Home.

Owen O. Viar, 72, of Richfield, Illinois, died Friday night, August 18, 1967, at 11:50 in Blessing Hospital at Quincy, where he had been a patient for 13 days.

Mr. Viar was born in Liberty township Feb. 26, 1895, and was a life long farmer and resident of the area. He married Emma E. Allexsworth [sic] May 15, 1916 at Macomb. He attended the Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Goldie) Robbins of Fowler; four sons, Orville, at home, Robert and Raymond of Quincy, and Albert Viar of Liberty; a half sister, Mrs. Viola Smith of Quincy; four half-brothers, Carl Thompson of Hannibal, Lewis Thompson and Harold Reid of Quincy, and Stanley Reid of New York; 17 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Ray Brown

Ray Brown, 69, of Payson, died Monday, Dec. 8 1969, at 2:14 p.m. in a Quincy nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Brown was born in Richfield Township August 12, 1900, a son of Albert and Eliza Campbell Brown. He was employed by Gray Brothers Elevator in Hull for a number of years before moving to Payson two years ago. He attended the Hull Methodist Church. He was married to Lucy Baugher on November 6, 1923.

Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Helen) Dunker of Hull and Mrs. Nelson (Bernice) Colgrove of Liberty; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Stearns and Mrs. Drusie Gallaher, both of Barry; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was proceded in death by two brothers.

Mrs. Maude Leapley

Services for Mrs. Maude Leapley, 89, of Golden, who died Monday, December 8, 1969 at 4:30 p.m. in a Golden nursing home, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Lummus Funeral Home in Camp Point. Burial will be in Harwood cemetery near Kellerville.

Mrs. Leapley was born in Kentucky on Sept. 10, 1880, She was married to Roy Johnson on May 6, 1897. He died in September 1905. She later married John Leapley in 1908.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Esther Bullard of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. John Dieterle of Camp Point, Mrs. Edward Parker of Luray, Mo., Mrs. Don Stevens of Clayton, Ill. and Mrs. Delbert Leeper of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, George Johnson of Quincy, Herbert Johnson of LIsbon, Iowa and William Leapley of Liberty; three step-children, Mrs. Leta Deege of Larned, Kan., Mrs. Frank Lierly of Clayton and Henry Leapley of Quincy; 37 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren.

She was proceded in death by a son.

Funeral Services Held

Services for Mrs. Geraldine Viar, 68, of Liberty, who died Sunday, November 2, 1969, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Haugh and Son Funeral Home.  The Rev. D. B. Cave officiated.

Mrs. Viar was born in Camp Point, Nov. 28, 1969 [sic], a daughter of Charles and Minnie Zieger Grunwald. She was a member of the Christian Church. She married Lloyd Viar June 8, 1921 in Quincy, Illinois.

Surviving are the husband, two sons, Faris of Clayton and Ed of Camp Point; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Faunda) Dreyer of Lake Ozark, Mo. and Mrs. Shirley Biesterfield of Quincy; a sister, Mrs. Ester Miner of Clayton; 10 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
