John B. “Jack” Costello, age 91 formerly of 3410 Harmony Hill, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 2:30 a.m. in the Illinois Veterans Home.
He was born August 19, 1915 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Paul M. and Emma Webb Costello.
He married Minnie D. Lawrence on December 7, 1940 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death April 30, 1999.
He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and has been a resident of Quincy since 1945. Mr. Costello was a truck driver for Orscheln Trucking for 40 years, retiring in June 1976. He was a former member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and a current member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He was a member of Teamsters Local #21.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Dorothy Irwin, Pauline Gamble, Agnes Saxbury and Julia Johnson, and a brother William Costello.
Services will begin Monday at 9:30 am in the Hansen Spear Funeral Home with prayers followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Father James Wheeler O.F.M. officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 5pm. Pallbearers will be Donald, Jr., Jacob, and Josh Morris, and Paul, Jr. and John Saxbury, and honorary pallbearer Jack Duvall. Burial will be in Grandview Burial Park in Hannibal, Missouri.
